Who we serve
- Youth currently in foster care, ages 16–21
- Able to operate with a baseline level of independence
- Referred through DHR, ILP Coordinators, or county caseworkers
A 10-month transitional living program built to walk youth step by step from foster care into independent adulthood.
The Purpose Project is Foster Friends’ flagship 10-month transitional living curriculum. Each month centers on one basic life skill, reinforced weekly through hands-on activities, and is paired every month with career exploration, parenting classes for teen parents, and continued mental health support.
The program culminates in a Graduation into Independence ceremony.
Our goal
To send every youth into adulthood with the practical skills, career direction, and support system they need to be genuinely self-sufficient.
Layered with three constant threads that run the entire program.
Hands-on exposure to fields that spark each youth’s interest.
One skill a month, practiced weekly with a Navigator until it sticks.
Continued, trauma-informed support throughout all ten months.
A ceremony celebrating everything a young person has built, and proof they didn’t have to build it alone.
ILP Coordinators and caseworkers can refer a youth by completing the Purpose Project intake form. Our team will follow up within a few business days to confirm eligibility and next steps.
Share the referring worker’s details and basic information about the youth. It takes about five minutes.
Our team reviews the referral and follows up within a few business days.
We match the youth with a Navigator, begin services, and keep you updated throughout the program.
